The land drainage works at the Sir Colin Campbell Building, University of Nottingham, involved the installation of a new perimeter drainage system designed to improve surface water management and protect the building infrastructure. The project required careful excavation and installation works in close proximity to an operational university facility, demanding detailed planning and coordination throughout all phases of construction.
A key challenge of the project was maintaining safe access and minimising disruption around a live building with constant pedestrian movement from students, staff, and visitors. Robust traffic and pedestrian management measures were implemented to safely segregate the works from the public, while ensuring uninterrupted access to the building at all times. Continuous communication with the university and strict adherence to health and safety procedures enabled the project to be delivered efficiently, safely, and with minimal impact on day-to-day campus operations.
